Millennial Money Journal: Week 3

Kimberly Novosel reports in week three of her money journaling challenge that she‘s starting to see some patterns in her spending.(Photo: pexels)

Now that I’m into my third week of keeping my money journal, I’m starting to get the hang of keeping track. It’s making me more aware of my spending at this point, and I’m starting to look for little ways to make a difference in the total each week. I’m pretty sure I’m going to go over my new budget amounts for the month in each category, but I’ll learn for next month to spend less early on to have more flex room with each thing later in the month.

I’m also seeing how on my days off from the studio or from meetings I stay home and work on my laptop and don’t spend anything, so specifically finding ways to spend less when I have work dinners or need lunch or a snack during a few hours at the studio are top goals

Here’s how week three went!

7 a.m.: Iced coffee from Frothy Monkey Bakery – $2.95

Sunday

Day off! Netflix binge, painted my nails, no spending!

Where I was able to save: I got a couple of rides home from friends rather than having to Uber round-trip all the time, and walked to and from work a lot. Next week I’m going to make a big pitcher of iced coffee at home – let’s see how that changes things!

Total spent: $357.18
